Greater Charles Village

Abell:

Abell

Abell is a small neighborhood located along Abell Ave.  It is known for it’s porch-front row houses filled with students and families enjoying the quiet life in north central Baltimore.  The neighborhood is zoned to the Barclay School, but children can attend either school.

Charles Village:

Charles Village is a large, bustling, vibrant neighborhood that thrives on the energyofneighboring Johns Hopkins University.  In 008, the American Planning Association named it a Top Ten Neighborhood and in 2011, Travel & Leisure Magazine called it one of the “most beautiful neighborhoods in the U.S.”  Charles Village is widely known for its colorful “painted lady” Victorian rowhouses.  The neighborhood is popular with young professionals and families alike.  The Village is very accessible by transit and residents often walk or bike to three different business districts and shop year-round at the Waverly Farmer’s Market.  Home values in the community are stable.

Harwood:

Harwood is nestled between Margaret Brent and Barclay, running from 29th St. south to 25th St., and west from Greenmount to Guilford Ave. It has a unique feel from block to block, and demonstrates its tight-knit nature in its block beautification projects; but in recent years has also come together to complete neighborhood-wide projects like the neighborhood sign at 25th and Barclay and a beautiful mural! There are a lot of families in the area whose children attend Margaret Brent or Barclay.  The Barclay Rec Center and several parks give places for kids and families to play.  With many local businesses and resources nearby, Harwood is a bustling neighborhood with a bright future!

Remington

Remington is a diverse, affordable community located between the higher-priced enclavesof Hampden and Charles Village.  The neighborhood is experiencing a revival driven by younger artistic residents who have begun buying and renovating homes.  Remington benefits from its low crime rate and location adjacent to Johns Hopkins University and I-83, which provides easy access to the rest of the city.  Remington is surrounded by parkland, including Wyman Park and Druid Hill Park.  Shopping and cultural amenities in neighboring Charles Village and Hampden are a short walk away.:
