April 13th was Career Day at Margaret Brent. Students had the opportunity to see up close what community members “do” and to get a closer look at the many businesses in the greater Charles Village community.
The students were so excited to meet Ms. Silver, a real life fire fighter and president of the Margaret Brent Organized Parents Group. Other participants ran the gamut and included a local musician, author, hair salon owner and stylist, yoga instructor and scientist among others.
In keeping with the place based theme of Career Day students had the opportunity to showcase their latest work on the theme. Students studied traffic patterns, playgrounds and commerce in Charles Village and displayed their work for everyone to see.
Career day was an amazing opportunity for everyone involved to make connections with parents, people and businesses in the community. It was a chance for students to share and demonstrate the depth of their work. Not to mention a chance to see the principal dressed in firefighter gear!
